The only thing USCIS can do at it's own discretion is issue Public Notices / Memoranda....Nothing more
I am guessing they can only do is - take back their public notice of 485 rejecting in July....It was their call and they can take it back....Department of State never endorsed the idea....USCIS goofed up on the occassion and got DOS into it and did the 485 rejections....

You can reschedule it as many times as you need. There is no limit. However, going by my experience, rescheduling third time will have the USCIS put your request at the bottom of the pile and it takes for ever to get the 3rd appointment letter.
Like in my case, go to a not-so-busy ASC (preferably in the non-urban area) and they will do your FP without a need to reschedule.

My spouse burnt one of the finger and has a blister right at the spot where we take FP. So I am not sure if they will reschedule her or not. When we got her FP notice , we made some travel plans after the FP date but unfortunately this incident happened. So I was wondering if I can just take the photocopy of the original FP notice (as for reschedule , we will have give up the original notice) and drive to another ASC after the finger heals and try to complete it there rather than wait for the original ASC to send us the rescheduled date. Is there a way to find out which ASCs allow walk in and which I dont. I am based in Boston and so pretty sure Boston ASC does not allow to walk in. They go strictly by appointments. So I am hoping to some other nearest ASC.
Also as your family completed FP after your scheduled date and that too at another ASC, do you know what you will do when you receive the rescheduled appointment.

I didn't find what I am looking for.
I already have a lawyer and the ONLY reason I want to file myself is because I am fed up in chasing lawyers, my company etc. They don't respond in time and anyways I am preparing all my documents my self and guiding lawyer also.
So, I am thinking to file myself.

Thanks for the responses. I was told that i can get extension upon approval of 140 as PD is less than 365 days. So i am looking for alternatives to stay legal until approval of 140.

True. I had the same question at a one point but got a verbal reply from CBP that since the I-94 has the same number with a new expiry date (the one given on the I-797), you are safe in the records.
Frankly, I never understodd why they can't put the valid until on the I-797's I-94. If you are asked to show your proof of legal stay, you would also need to carry your I-797 everytime now !

The printed I-797 bottom left is for employee's records and the right part is the equivalent of the I-94. The officer did not put a seal with the expiry date (normally they put a seal on I-94 mentioning the visa type and expiry date) on the right part. If I am surrendering this part while leaving the country,how can they determine if I overstayed my I-94 date or not since there is no expiry date on the bottom right part.

My company want to book me on flight and comanty sponsored cruise. Cruise leaves on Feb 27th. I am afraid it I will have AP then. Company need some confirmation of getting it as they will lose money.
I called USCIS and placed request to Expedite based on catagory 1 (financial loss to employer or individual). I was told that I will hear somehting in 5 days?
Should I contact local congressman and place request through them? How does the procedure go? I have no clue. I have taken infopass appointment at local USCIS for next week but I know that will be waste of time.
Any suggestions?

i dont see any of the above said...:o..how lond does it take for us to receive rn in hand after the checks are cashed...I am starting to worry now.If everybody can see the rn why icant i!:o...The uscis cs is not telling the status...Is there a possiblity of appl rejection even after the checks are cleared.:confused::confused:

I don't know why guys are so anxious about the reciept number. When they get the reciept number mail, they are going ot have all the details. Unnecessary anxious. What you guys are going to do with your reciept number known early?. Is it going to speed up your GC process?. Be cool and wait. You will get everything...

I had no problem in my H1B.
Here in these discussions I see many people asking to go to the best lawyers for greencards etc.
Does anybody know about this law firm, and your experiences please. Do you recommend I can be safe with them.

Can we work for Indian company and receive salary get deposited in India for the work. My spouse is in H4 Visa here and recently got the H1B approved. For the new H1B transfer could we show the Indian employer experience while you are physically present in US for last 3 years.
Do we have to give Updated resume every time when we file H1B transfer?

USVI is a US territory hence, you will be able to fly in with the drivers license. They do not take your I 94 back. Just to make sure you are in US territorial waters, don't swim or wade out more than 5 feet out in the water. You could be swimming in international waters without proper US exit authorization. Your entry to shore could be subject to unauthorized landing. A water tight bag lugged around your fanny with passport/I94/H1B/paystubs/employer letters/DL(Driver License)/EAD(Employment Authorization Document)/AP(Advanced Parole)/receipts/etc etc. should keep you safe though. Just keep it away from the sharks. Enjoy your vacation.:D:D:D

The reason I asked - I got the impression that IV is for the "highly qualified" people. I know "highly qualified" is a subjective term. I did 3 yrs bachelors in commerce from India. I was not sure if I am "highly qualified" or not. Reading through a forum I came to know about the SKIL bill - which I don't think is for guys with my qualification.
Is IV only pursuing SKIL bill or are there any other bills that would benefits people like me? If there are, then where can I read about those provisions? I want to browse though them and want to see if it would help my case.

Now, if I were to join the "same" client location as an employee after the 180 day completion of having filed I-485, what are the things that I need to keep in touch before I make this transition.
I do have EAD that is valid till Sep'08. Do I need to tell the client company that my I-485 is pending and that I can work using EAD or should I apply as anyone who would apply for the position without any strings...!!!

Real estate investment right now is very good. Buy some foreclosures cheap (under 50k) then rent. Use the equity to buy more houses. Daisy chain rinse and repeat. Within a year especially with this economy you will be living the American Dream.
